Borg Warner Turbos?
Hey guys,
I am looking to go to a divided top mount and am trying to decide on turbos. I will not be shooting for anything above 600 whp this year but would like my manifold to be set for upgrades in the future (hence the T4 divided). I have been looking for turbos that will be able to provide around 550 whp with the least amount of lag.
Initially I thought about getting the twin scroll GT35R:

I am now looking at borg warner turbos, as they seem to have great promise for the price. This one in particular has caught my eye:

Spool is very important for me, so I am basically looking for the smallest T4 turbo to get me ~550whp. Thanks!

I know alot of the SFWD guys have moved over from the gt42r to the s372 with race cover. From what i have seen the borg turbo's seem to spool just as well if not better than the garret bb turbo's. As far as what borg turbo falls into your hp range im unsure.
we just put an s372 on one of our sfwd cars and it performs well but does not spool as well as a garrett 4202 on another car we have with the same setup. well spool is close but you can tell there is more boost drop between gears. Im not dogging the borg warner at all. it works and we have no intention of taking it off the car. But just as my own opinion they are not better than garrett over all just better bang for your buck and are good quality. This is on 800whp car as for you wanting 600 im sure the differenc between the two won't be as extreme, as you will be running a smaller turbo.
you are right. But we most of our costomers dont have the money yet to get a dog box. usualy full throtle shifting works great as long as your shifting at the right time. How much time you have behind the wheel is important too. we were very im pressed when we ran a non ball bearing 4202 on one of our civics. We had 15 psi by 7000 and worked great between gears.
Some of the BW turbos are a bit on the lazy side, had experience with them on Supras. They do eliminate running coolant lines and lower rebuild costs, and overall costs, which is nice. Like ET said, you can run higher PR, BUT the big key is that you can run higher PR with lower airflow, and thats good for smaller displacement.

We have been using Garrett turbos for years. Just recently started tuning the borg warner line-up of turbos. The biggest advantage is the cheap rebuild costs, lack of coolant lines or special oil restrictor as with the GT series and being able to flow more lb/min from the same size inducer/exducer compressor wheel. The extended tip technology that borg warner uses really works. The turbos are able to operate at a higher pressure ratio (higher boost levels) compared to the similar sized Garrett equivalent. The biggest advantage with them is if you are using a twin scroll manifold. The 83-75 borg warner with the 1.00 a/r turbine housing will spool about 500-600 rpms faster and have better transient response compared to the gt35r undivided. It will also be capable of making close to 700whp compared to the 35r.
The other thing that i really like about the 83-75 is the that it sounds just like the 30r. Kind of ricey, but its music to my ears!

Thanks for the responses guys, this information is hard to come by.

we've made over 600whp on bmw's and honda's with 35r's. I havent seen any other turbo spool as well that you can push over 600 hp at the wheels. usualy on a 4 cylinder you are going to push high 20s to 30 psi and on a 6 cylinder you will have to push around 24psi with a 35r to hit 600whp.
Pang from P-fabrications is making me an equal length top mount divided manifold. He has only made a few of them, this is a picture of a prototype:

I will be running 2 of the new tial 38mm wastegates.
