Thumbs up Broken Vortech tensioner adjuster screw

Well I have a broken Vortech tensioner adjuster screw or bolt piece that is broken in half.
I cannot get it out. Bought a bolt extractor thing and it cannot grab it since it is like a screw and no head to grab it.
Pliers just slip and crush the threading and also will not grab.
Anyone know how to get it off? Got the new one in and ready to put in but need this out first obviously.
SC bracket and al are not in the car so can be carried around and all.

Put a hole into the middle of it or something? I have a bolt extractor that goes over it but can't grip it as those are made more to grab a stripped head or something.

Take it to a machine shop or find a friend with a drill press, and drill it mostly out. Start with a 1/16" drill bit, and work up from there until you've drilled about 1/2 of the ID of the bolt out. DON'T drill any larger than this or you'll risk getting into the threads in the bracket. Then use the extractor to pull it. By drilling out that much material, the bolt should come out easily.

yes they make an extractor that kinda looks like a drill bit but backwards you drill out the middle of it like he said about half the size of the bolt. and then put the piece in there and back the whole thing out.....

This is what I am talking about. Hard to really get pressure on it as it spins and moves along the track in the bracket.
I just can't get the portion out that goes through the round shaped metal piece that connects to a pulley on the other side.

Yeah there is a bolt that should come off. Didn't have any way to hold it when I was trying so could not remove it. There is a bolt on the other side that attaches it to a pulley.

As I recall, that is reverse threaded, which means that a normal extractor won't work. Take the blower off the bracket so you can get some vice grips or channel locks on there and you shouldn't have a problem getting it off.
