Default Build advice for a noob

Hi All,

Owned my s2k for almost two years now so its time for some forced induction! Don't worry, I'm not going to start the SC vs Turbo debate as I still cant decide...

What I do want is a reliable 500hp that can take a pounding at the weekend. I'm in the mindset of going turbo, quite like the sheepey kits but I need help knowing what to change with the engine I've got a clutch, test pipe etc. I have made a list of parts I think I will need, please can someone let me know if this will be good or if I have missed anything important?

fuel injectors http://sheepeybuilt.com/products/inj...fuel-injectors
full blown intake manifold http://fullblownmotorsports.com/full...ntake-manifold
full blown throttle body http://fullblownmotorsports.com/full...-throttle-body
cp pistons http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/S2000_...P-Pistons.aspx
inline pro rods http://www.inlinepro.com/s1/p-49-inlinepro-rods.aspx

Check out the build threads stickyed at the top of this topic forum. Pretty much ID1300. Some sort of dual pump setup. Equal length manifold and E85 will get you close to 500hp.

Reliability will come down to quality of parts and quality of tune. I don't have first hand experience yet with blowing diffs/axles/tranny. But i'm sure if you beat your car every weekend something will break.

I agree with Kangaroo. I don't think you need any of the items you listed. Get a turbo kit with a turbo big enough to support 500 whp and a fuel system to match and then throw E85 at it and wait for parts to start failing and replace as they fail.

There's a kit by derftuned on ig. I would seriously get that set up for $3600 I believe. Good quality parts. But Ya u don't need some of that stuff u listed lol

In terms of reliability, I think it's hard to deny that a Supercharger is a better choice. The Kraftwerks supercharger system provides instant throttle response and a progressive power curve that increases all the way to redline without the typical 'spiking' or 'surging' associated with turbochargers. This unique, more useable power curve results in reduced cylinder pressures, less strain on engine components, and increased reliability. Rotrex superchargers also operate much cooler when compared to turbochargers and other supercharger systems, which reduces the engine’s intake air temperature as well as its risk of detonation.

To top it off, the Kraftwerks kit is capable of 410whp with the smaller C38-81 supercharger and just a exhaust and header! Feel free to PM me for a quote on a kit.

I missed that kit

Not sure about wacking a turbo on and replacing things that break. I do a lot of trips around europe so I need reliablity.

I do like the sound of the rotrex setup but people often go SC then turbo so I guess I'm bypassing that.

Perhaps there isnt a definitive list of what the engine build should be and its a question of research and speaking to tuners...

If you're goals are that high, but oem reliability you may want to look at something more powerful from the factory. Look through all of the turbo threads for how often they have hiccups. Superchargers will offer better reliability, but 500hp is pushing them to the edge. Plus at that power significant drive train upgrades will likely be needed.

This is all very true. Perhaps a TTS 500hp SC with a few internals is what I want...not a turbo

Oh yeah, you're in UK (couldn't see that on my phone earlier). Definitely speak with TTS. They can get you very close to your goals. But depending how hard you're going to beat on it, transmission and/or diff upgrades will possibly be needed.

Best advice, is to start with a simple/expandable kit
