Default Built my catch can

First off I want to say that I am in no way bashing another catch can, just showing an alternative to guys who may not be able to afford, as another brand and the price tag.

My idea came from another company's catchcan. You may recognize it, lol.

Here is the catch can I've been working on.

CACFAB EXCLUSIVE!!

Still not 100% complete, but this will give you an idea.

Hope to finish it up tomorrow.

Anyway, on w/the pics.

Of course their's is aluminum, and tig welded, w/an attached coolant overflow..but I didn't need to go that route.

The biggest reason I didn't, was b/c there cost $350 bucks !!! Super nice, but out of my price range.

I bought 2 sheets of 16ga sheet metal @ Home Depot, for a total of $16 bucks.

I bought a 1.5" piece of tubing to attach my filter @ Advanced for $3 bucks, and the filter from summit for $20 bucks. The 2 steel -8an bungs were $8 bucks for both.

Their can comes with none of the fittings other than the bungs welded on & if you want it painted black, thats an additional charge.

I am going to paint mine black, so it will look more stealthy, but overall I'm pleased for a grand total of less than $50 bucks as compared to $350, lol (of course I'm not including the other fittings for the valve cover in this total)

I measured and cut out the parts I needed one evening.

The next evening, I welded it all together, and then b/c it was MIG'd and not TIG'd, I ground down the welds, lol. Took me about 45mins, but the outcome was ALOT nicer. One day when I have the equipment, I won't need to do this. Besides it's not a structual part, so it doesn't matter.

Here is where I started to assembled it.

Here it is welded and after I took the grinder to it. Still needs the bungs welded, and the filter screwed down, and of course painted.

Here it is on the car, I'll get some better pictures of the oem overflow attached and w/the bungs and lines attached tomorrow.

Enjoy.

Props to you Adam! Very sweet! You should have it powder coated wrinkle black. Would probably only run $25 and would hide any imperfections and look very cool.

BTW.......You should have messed with us at the beginning and posted a few pics of a pop can with a filter sitting on top. LOL I would have laughed my ass off.

Take the filter off, and turn it over, lol.

I'm not building anymore of these, and I don't really have the dimensions, I just measured and cut to fit as needed.

This was just to show you guys that you don't always have to spend alot of $$ to go fast.
