Default buying an f20 JDM, need help

found a guy on facebook and he wants a "50k mile f20c JDM" 4300 shipped to my house. with transmission

he cant give me a VIN cause he doesnt have the car... so theres no way to verify the mileage...

my questions:

1 : are jdm engines "so" different that i would need to retune? its a turbo car
2: dont all honda engines have the VIN tag on the back?
3: how TF can he afford to send me a jdm engine with trans @4300? im seeing local 80k engines for 5400 and those people didnt have to pay for shipping from japan?

any input is greatly appreciated

JDM engines have a higher compression. You won't need a retune but you need to change the sensors on the engine itself to work with OBD2 (JDM doesn't use OBD )
JDM engines don't have a vin tag on the back that's an USDM feature.
If it's too good to be true it's never good.

Better prepare yourself before you wreck yourself bud.

1 jdm f20 engine have higher compression compared to usdm f20c engines and yes you should retune you turbo car assuming you were running a stock usdm f20c
2 i dont believe jdm engine have vin tags
3 $4300 for a jdm engine and transmission shipped from a private party is not a good deal. Most of the JDM engine importers around here in Los Angeles sell the jdm f20c with transmission and ecu for about $4,000-$4,500 picked up. Thats with a guarantee of less than 50k miles and a start up guarantee. If i was buying this from a private party and because of the higher risk for me the most i would pay is $3,500. shipping for an engine/transmission is about $500. but here in so cal JDM engine importer shops are everywhere.

Jdm f20c engine are everywhere. What you want is a low millage f22c. Those are getting rare and hard to come by and is starting to fetch a pretty penny.
