Default Buying a Supercharged S2K?

Hi All,

I'm thinking of selling my 02 911 sometime this year and picking up a 02+ supercharged s2000. My question is, would any advise against buying one that has been supercharged? I know to some degree the car has probably been pushed but I'm hoping the car would have been able to handle it and would still be very reliable going forward.

Any insight would be appreciated! TIA.

I don't know about buying one that has a S/C..you never know how hard the previous owner pushed the car.

I do know there's a chance the car may have been abused but wouldn't a pre-purchase inspection reveal if certain parts have been excessively worn? I only ask these questions because all the cars I've owned thus far (BPU Supra TT, modded g35c, 911) have all been modded and were bought used. I know to some extent they were pushed but I've never had any issues with those cars so wouldn't know why a SCed s2k would be any different.

I think if you do all the inspection before purchase I don't see a different buying a S?C one or a stock one

I'd be more worried about how the S/C install was done. If the guy slapped it on, and never got it tuned I would be worried.

Or if he modded the S/C (smaller pulley) did he do any of the supporting mods? (Larger injectors, aftermarket ECU, tuning)

If you get a good feel that it was installed properly and tuned right, then I see no issue.

Thank you all for the responses...

Yeah, I think as long as it was installed correctly and it goes through a pre-purchase inspection, I think I'll just end up going that route. Yet again everyone is probably correct in assuming a s2k is probably ragged on a bit regardless of it being supercharged or not but I'm assuming these cars can handle it. I just wouldn't want one that hasn't been taken care of.

To answer why I would sell my 911 for a S2K, I'd honestly prefer not to but I'm 23 and it's honestly just not the right car for me at this moment financially. IMO it's one of the best overall cars in terms of looks, reliability, performance, and class but yet again, all that comes at a premium. I think buying a used s2000 with some mods would help keep me relatively content while I'm saving for more important things.
