Default CA Smog test and Greddy Kit

I have been looking at a used Kit but the owner does not have the CARB sticker. Do I need this to get it smoged, does anybody not in CA have one spare? What are my options? I have emailed GReddy but I don't expect a reply for about a week. Thanks in advance for your input.

You need to CALL Greddy as they will not respond to E mails.. (Yeah I know its pretty crappy)
You WILL need the sticker. I also printed the CARB paperwork off the CARB website for the Greddy kit and took that with me to the smog station.
They were reluctant at first but I showed them the CARB sticker, gave them the copy of the paperwork for their records and all went well on the rollers.
I previously posted my smog results if you want to take a look.

If you have the complete kit installed bring it to Greddy and they will check the Emanage if it's been "retuned." If not "retuned" they will give you the CARB sticker.

Or if you aren't local you will have to take pics of your car with it installed and also a shot of your VIN # (Greddy willtell you the specifics). Then, you have to send it to Greddy along w/ the emanage to check if it's been "retuned."

If the emanage was "retuned" you'd have to ask Greddy about what to do next.

BTW the EO# is also on the turbo but very hard to see with kit installed.

CARB Void if retuned....
The stock tune sucks big monkey balls! I cant remember the last time I hit VTEC in my car, since its soo poorly tuned and pathetic.

This does not look good for me, I know it has been retuned and I myself wass going to have it tuned one installed. Looks like I may have to find another option. That or find sombody not in CA that has a sticker they don't want. Also waht is the smog check interval on an 01? And thanks for the quick responses.

every 2 years.

Call greddy to see what happens if it was "retuned." All it is is a reflash IIRC. They may charge you but it's up to you.

CARB may be void but depending on the tune it may still pass the sniffer. OP is more concerned about the EO sticker. I'm sure there is tons of folks in cali that have "retuned" the emanage.

Nope...

I called them about the kit I bought before. I was excited until they said I had to send the emanage to them...

As far as the MAP I didn't bother asking since my kit didn't have one.

I'm sure taking the car there would b ea whole different story since it's one on one in person but don't quote me on that.

if you haven't even purchased one yet, and you were going to get it retuned anyway, there should be no problem sending your emanage to greddy to have the basemap loaded. i don't see how it would make a difference since you were going to retune anyway. PLUS, the emanage software is downloadable for free, so if you wanted to save the existing map before sending the emanage to greddy, you could. Then go smog, and load the original map back on after.

I say, just call greddy to find out what you need to go through to get the sticker. Get the sticker and go smog...it'll pass the smog test just fine.

i would bring a copy of the carb cert paperwork from www.arb.ca.gov for backup. And make sure you don't have anything extra on the kit like a BOV or an oil catch tank.
