Default cabin smells like gas

ok so i noticed that every time i first turn on the heat in my car with the top up, it smells strongly of gas fumes. im running aem ems and im thinking that in the past i saw something about the AEM unit has something to do with this but i searched and cant find what im looking for. can anyone shed some light on this so i can fix it? i feel like im getting baked in the morning off this stuff.

Exhaust gas fumes, or unburned gas?

Unburned gas would indicate the fuel line or return line that is leaking (can be dangerous). For the exhaust fumes, it's certainly just you exhaust manifold gasket. Check the side of the head to see if there's concentrated black dust.

i know the exhaust smells of gas, but im sure that its not the main problem for this. and as far as i know i dont have an exhaust leak under the hood but ill get in there and check it out well today. ive also looked for leaking fuel and havent been able to find a leak anywhere yet.

i was thinking that someone was mentioning that there was some kind of return line for gas fumes that the stock ecu runs, but the aem ems wouldnt.... but idk i could be mistaken. i just know that when i first turn on the car and crank up the heat, it REAKES of raw gas smell... then it usually goes away.

I experienced something similar in the past, and it was a fuel leak.

I had 2 occurrences.

The first time was a fuel injector o-ring. I had shredded the o-ring when re-installing my stock injectors to the fuel rail. It was more of a leak.

Second time, it was the return line I think, or whatever hose attaches to the banjo bolt that sits where the stock FPR was. I had difficulty putting the hose onto the barb during the SC installation so I used some pliers I think. It made a very tiny tear that eventually got bigger to the point where fuel was spraying out like crazy.

Good luck!

Welp the gas smell is no longer an issue...... the head gasket went GONZO on me on the way home the other day. So now I gotta tear it down and replace it. FML...
