Default Calling All You Alcoholics!

hey there,

i am in the process of getting parts together to boost my S, and i have always wanted to run e85, but was never really an option because we never had any local stations that sell it. Well lately a few stations around here now stock it and thats what i would like to run, i mean its pump race gas, why not right? i am planning on using a walbro intank pump, and bosch (injectordynamics) 1000cc injectors and shooting for 450-475ish whp on a gt3076 and equal length topmount manifold. with that being said, is a upgraded fuel pressure regulator needed, or will the oem ap1 reg. be ok. do i have to upgrade the fuel rail or fuel lines? any insight from the people that have done it would be great!

thanks for your time

Jeremy

im currently running regular braided lines without a prob. you can however upgrade them to the ethanol friendly lines if you prefer. i also suggest getting the fuel pressure regulator so you can run more base pressure and a gauge.

how do you feel about the aem regulators? i know the aeromotive is the best, but that requires and aftermarket rail and lines... do you have any pics of your setup?

Sounds almost like my soon to be ready setup. ID1000s, rewired walbro and 3076 on a homemade tubular. Not topmount tho.

is it the remote mount regulator or the rail mounting one? are the regualtors the same as say the b series ones?

with ethanol being stoich at 9.7 and gasoline at 14.7, reading a wideband you would have to read in lambda correct? because rich and lean are different between the 2 fuels and reading in the normal afr readout only pertains to gasoline correct?

with AEM i want to have 2 tunes, one for 91oct and the other for e85

its the rail mounting one. i believe f series motor has different mounting position than the b series regulators.

you dont have to but usually you can set it up so it will read alcohol. (at least on dynojets)

that should not be a prob. make sure you completely out of e85 before running 91 oct.

you can leave it in AFR if thats what your used to and tune to 12:5 or whatever you normally would, the sensor reads lambda and calculates AFR based on the stoch ratio for your fuel so if you don't change the calibration your just looking at a multiple of the lambda number anyway.

most braided lines will work with ethanol although i had mr gasket braided lines that failed in a few days and replaced them with aeroquip which have lasted for a long time and show no signs of deterioration.
