Can I use the final drive in this older open diff?

Can I use the final drive out of this diff? I don't want to shift into 5th in the 1/4, I have 4.08 in there now, would like to put these 3.90s in there

Nope you cannot. This is the longnose R200 differential and it does not swap over. I have looked into this myself as well, you need a set out of the S14-S15 diff (Short nose). They have JDM used sets on ebay for around $200 bucks, let me find you a link.

I believe these ones will work from the hours I spent going over the nissan forums lol:

3.9 final drive

3.69 final drive

Basically you want a short nose differential and then you can use the ring and pinion out of it.

What's your rev limiter set at? IIRC I didn't shift into 5th when I was at the strip

I think the 8.8 would have been a better option as far as parts availability go.

Haha some of us have had this kit since before the 8.8 was an option.

Unchanged from stock, so whatever that is. I'm pretty deep into 5th, I don't think I can stay in 4th at 132mph, that's a lotta revs

Thanks for those links Neema, you think I'd be better off with the 3.90s or the 3.70s?
