Default CEL P0172 (Rich Bank 1)

Hey guys I got this CEL ever since i had my SC installed for the last 3 days. I got it cleared when i correct the vacuum lines, but as soon as I put my silencer back on to my J's 70rr exhaust this light came on after like 20 miles.

Could it be that my MAP sensor (little vortech black box) is not have a secure connection since it is crimped.

Maybe a MAP whack could help it?

Silencer reduced flow of air and caused the CEL?

Mods:
Vortech SC stock boost
J's racing 70rr exhaust (headerback)

seems that your tune is messed up and you are running rich. go back and change your spark plugs and get it retuned

that could be the reason why. you never got it tuned to see if its running properly. go to a dyno

maybe your No1 injector Failed and its stuck open for a reason?
Anyway the best thing you can do first is take off the plugs and Look at them if they match in color. If the First one Is Darker-black than its true that your car is running rich on N1 cylinder and i cant think of anything else than the injector since your other cylinders are ok?
Cheers. Do the plug Read first and you will know whats wrong.

The bank 1 note on the DTC does not relate to cylider #1 - it means bank 1 of 2 of a V6 or V?.

Do you have a wideband A/F gauge on the car? I am guessing that you are somehow running rich in closed loop in order to get that DTC (do not think that DTC can be set in open loop).

You could have a bad primary O2 sensor. I would bring it to a shop that can check your true fuel ratios, or at a min check your fuel trims from the OBDII port.

Are you running the Vortech FMU or some type of management? Perhaps a VAFC, SAFC, eManage?

i'm running the vortech FMU.

I took the plugs out today and switched them out with ngk 7173 gapped at .034

My old plugs had a heavy black buildup around the thread at the very top. and at the very top where the electrode is, had a white thin white layer buildup.

I took it to napa and the guy told me that if the ground electrode was white like that it means i'm running lean.

I hope after like 300 miles of driving lean after installing my SC isn't gonna kill my engine.

What do you guys think i should do?
A) Put a 1/8mm disc into my FMU to richen it up with some dyno runs?
B) Get a fuel pressure regulator to try and richen it up at the dyno?

BTW my checkengine light went away automatically last night for some reason.

Your post and the CEL says you're running rich. So does the heavy build up. The white is another issue but if you were lean your plugs would be clean. ANd the conclusion you have dcome to is to richen it up?

Stop stuffing about with bandaid fixes based on misdiagnosis and get to a tuner.

+1.
a couple of hundred bucks can save you a few thousand if you are running lean.
It will also save itself in gas if you are running rich.
