Changing boost lower on AEM
Hey guys. I am currently running just shy of 16ish psi. I have recently seen it boost creep up to low 17's. Scarey! What is that most likely from? My set up can be seen in my f/s link in my signature. I doubt it is that i am over boosting a 38mm watsegate but you pro's tell me. My guess is in the compensation of the boost controller(mac boost solenoid) in the actual tune. What do you guys think? Its been happening since its been cooler but i'm not sure if that is the reasoning behind it.
Also, would i have to be retuned or could i just go in and lower the boost from 15.7 on the line graph to 14 and tapper it off the same way it does currently on the graph? If it is safe to change with out a tune are there other parameters that should be changed?
Thanks guys!

You can lower your boost. No retune needed. That's exactly what I did with my setup (which is very similar to yours). I was creeping in the higher rpm range so I setup my boost by gear and compensated in those areas. Was told a bigger wastegate might solve my problem (running a 38mm now).

Are u proficient with aempro or aem tune to begin with?
I am enough to tweak stuff and I had to have someone spend 20 mins teaching me how that boost crap worked. Then I had to find a desolate road I could do multiple pulls on to dial it in. Once it's explained it makes a lot more sense.
Good luck.

I do understand the besic principles and concepts but I am no tuner but feel I could learn. I am in the same boat as you before someone explained it to you. I just need that part.
