Default Cheap turbo kits

Been looking around for turbo kits and saw something on "EBAY" for around a grand

found a complete kit. I know i know ebay, cheap and also s2k dont belong in the same

but whatever!

Sure kit comes with everything you need to make a turbo-charged s2k and sure i dont

completely trust the turbo and the wastegate but i can get the kit sell those parts and get

a trusted turbo and a wastegate, i was just wondering...... all comments welcome quick

because after searching on here this topic will be closed.

p.s i know you get what you pay for but some turbo kits are over priced.

wrong area, please move....

I got one of those cheap ebay turbo's in my 91 DA Integra. Its like you said, you get what you pay for but hasn't popped or damaged my motor yet.

Don't expect it to last that long though

Wouldn't put it on my S2000 though

I would absolutely not trust an ebay turbo kit selling for $1000 for an S2000. In fact, I wouldn't let a kit like that within 100 miles of my car.

You have to pay to play and with something like a turbo setup, doing it right the first time will save you tons of money in the long run.

True, but like i said changing out the ImPoRtAnt parts like the wastegate and turbo charger & getting a SAFE tune, spending just a little bit more coin i think it will work just fine. People make homemade kits ALL the time that run for the long, i just dont want to pay extra $ for the name

The manifold is an important part of any turbo system. So, I agree that you should change all the important parts...the wastegate, the turbo and the manifold.

Get a system that is quality and proven. Your s2k was not cheap when it was new. Just because it is now cheap enough for you to afford as a 7 year old car does not mean it is cheap to fix damage caused by a crappy turbo system.

those intercoolers are garbage too, and I'd bet you have trouble with the fitment.

after spending the money on that kit and then buying a good manifold, turbo, and wastegate, you're back at square one with buying a good kit from the get-go.

so basically the only thing you can cheap out on is the pipping.

and after you already have the "good" turbo, wastegate, intercooler, and ecu you gonna want bigger pipes for the better flow.
after 4 grand spent on "upgraded" parts and 4 months spent on ebay looking for deals on these parts and realizing that after going to 3 different tuners and another 4 months of it you finally learn that a SAFE tune is not the same as a GOOD tune. if the mod/boost bug had yet to bite you, it would have at this point.

once again you're back to square one..... except now you have spent 7 grand and wasted almost a year trying to take short cuts and lost 3 years off your life due to stress and frustration.

wanna know why this story is so common? because it happens to EVERYONE who tries to do it this way.

X2...I've been there and done that, fortunately not with my s2k. I bought a cheap turbo for my old civic, and 4k and a new shortblock later it was back to stock.

I am in the same boat you are, and would like more power from the S, but the only thing I would consider is a quality kit that's been proven to last. Something like the greddy kit, or one with similar setup. sure it's like 5-6k, but in the long run, you will spend more than that trying to get everything right, while trying to be "cost effective"

Not trying to be discouraging or anything, I just hate to hear people getting conned into these 'cheap' mods that end up causing headache.

i wouldn't get the kit on ebay because it wont help you at all. the bov on the kit is a knock off, you need to change the manifold, turbo, wastegate and probably the intercooler because it won't be enough. all those will put you over $3000 in total. and those pipes that come with the kt are not for an s2000 they are just stratight and U pipes which you will need to slice and dice and then weld. not a single piece in those kit should be on your car. when you get a real kit, you won't need to pay labor for all those fittings. You"ll save about $1000K after all but don't forget that bu doing so, you are risking yout $6000+ engine.
