Anyone or any company can claim x amount of power through an intercooler. IMO it is worthless information without IAT logs to go with it. And sure it may make good power on the first pull, what about the 7th pull?

I think this is much more important on a track car (not 1/4 mile).

A comparison of a couple cores.

Obviously the more fins the better, at a cost of cooling efficiency to the items behind the cooler too. There's a balance, i'd rather have hotter IAT then having the rad unable to keep up and overheating.

Here are pics of my custom made garrett 24x12x3.5 intercooler. Garrett intercooler cores are the only way to go. The fins are very densly packed. Ebay intercoolers have at least twice the space between the fins compared to my garrett intercooler.
This intercooler is rated at 900hp.

Persionaly I have use the typical 24x12x3 or 4 inch thick ebay $100 intercooler with no issues at all. But when the ebay inter cooler is need to a garret intercooler there is a huge difference in fin dencity and as well as quality.

Do you think the garrett cast endtanks will fit in the frame rails with this core?

It probably depends on several things (listed in possible order of importance):

1) Which design they copied
2) Which amterials they used
3) Level of cratsmanship in building it
4) Level of QA/QC

some good info here:

intercooler design briefly explained here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmornaKmnHY

fin density and design plays a more significant role than the actual material- at such thin gauge, any aluminum is going to perform pretty much equally. the brazing process on how heat exchangers are assembled is a critical step in the manufacturing of intercoolers/rads/oil coolers, etc. if this step is done poorly you are going to end up with a heat exchanger that leaks or fails down the road.
