Clutch/Flywheel for S/C AP2
I had the same question I have a SC s2k that needs a new clutch, but the repiles seem to contradict themselves. So I'm unsure now of if I could get a comptech flyweel or keep the stock one, anyone else have any insights?
Those of you that have the combo from hardtopguy how any miles have you had it on the car?

I just had a new shortblock put in and when they removed the engine and tranny, they noticed my clutch was in really bad shape. They recommended a company called Competition. I had little time and since these people seemed to be doing really good work and knew what they are talking about, I took their advice. They didn't try to sell up to me and told me to get the stage 2 because I wanted driveability while still being able to handle the Vortech and a possible 9psi pulley upgrade in the future. It is rated at 340whp and is carbon/kevlar. The owner of Competition used to work (either owner or designer/engineer) for Clutchmasters. I have driven the car for 150 miles with the new engine and clutch and so far I LOVE the clutch. I wanted one that is streetable since I daily drive the car, more feel in the pedal, and one that would be able to handle my Vortech. It has a lot more feel, is very driveable with only a little more pedal effort. Since I am breaking it in, I have not really shifted hard but it just feels awesome. Look into this clutch as I paid $650 and it seems that you have some of the same requirements in a clutch that I did.
I had my flywheel resurfaced because I was already out of money (shortblock replacements aren't cheap!) and because I have heard that with a SC that a lighter flywheel can make it a pain to drive sometimes.
Anyway, hope this helps. I think the main difference between this clutch and the equivalent Clutchmasters is that CM is carbon and Competition is carbon/kevlar to help dissapate heat better. Like I said, I was trusting these guys bigtime and I am very very pleased with what they suggested.
