Default Clutch for turbo s2k, design? Brand?

Hi

I wonder what you FI car owners with experience from different clutches think of the topic.
Basically I had the competition clutch stage 4 at my prev. car and I think it was a good clutch. I never experienced any noise from it. It made the car abit harder to drive as it gripped very strong. (6 puck design) I never had the opportunity to see how much it had worn down during the short time I used it. I minimized slipping when parking and reversing etc to save it as much as possible. Brand new it was hard to drive, but the clutch got abit "milder" at engage after a few days of use, and that was the way it stayed.

How is the lifespan of such aftermarket clutches generally?
Is the 6puck a good design or am I better off with a disc design?
Power will be around 350-400whp range.

I see clutch posts around these forums now and then, but its most often people speaking good of the particular clutch they have on their own car, with little or none reference to other clutches.

Are there any new products on the market today that weren't around last year?
I remember ACT posting something about redesigning their clutch slightly.

I have a stage 4 6 puck, kinda like what you said, I think you will need a puck clutch over 350 hp.

You rate clutches by torque not HP which might make a big difference in your choise.

I don't know your setup but the Iron man or ceramic counterpart will hold much more power than 99% of us have. I feel it is a overkill for most. A solid disc clutch like ACT's, Centerforce, Clutch masters...... should be able to hold about 300-350FTLB at the wheels. Using one of these you won't have to worry about on/off operation. I had an Iron Man and I drove it in for 1000 miles before I threw it away. Now I have a heavy-duty PP and factory FW and clutch disc and I am happy.

I would be interested to hear from the Exedy and Carobtech dual disc guys. I am intersted to see how they do with everyday driving.

Oh yes you are right about the torque. My intention is a powerband with stable torque from turbospool to redline more or less. Regulated by the boost solenoid. So it will not be a any big torque crescendo at 5000 rpm that dies of significantly closer to redline. I think such a powerband is pure crap.
Thanks for valuable input so far.

I would strongly urge you to consider the competition clutch, call inline pro and ask what they use on there cars. I would not use ACT.
