Coils
A nice upgrade, and works VERY WELL, is the AEM Twin Fire with the AEM long pencil coils. I ran this setup for a couple years all the way up to over 1100hp.
I'd say if you are starting to get into that 700 hp barrier, and if running E85 or Meth injection, you need to upgrade the ignition.
I don't have any experience under about 700, so I can't accurately answer if it's needed under that. But I do know it is above that.

You should be fine with e85 at that power level. Right around 700 when you have to really start closing your plug gap I would recommend a B.A.S setup. There is a lot of fuel to burn with e85 and have seen great improvements over stock coils above 700 and e85. But for your goals I have been there with both stock coils and okada coils and even though I did notice an improvement I dont think they are very cost effective of an upgrade IMO
AEM Smart Coils. Which is an awesome solution (performance and cost wise) because they don't require anything additional. You do have to fabricate a way to mount them. If that is not a big deal for people, that is the way to go without a doubt. We have pushed these to 1200+hp. Awesome solution for under $400.
BTW, the Okadas are a waste of money. We saw no improvement with them over stock on the dyno.
