Not sure about the Hayabusa coils, but I remember reading a while back where fperra installed CBR954 coils on his setup. He also used an AEM C2DI CD Ignition box. If I remember correctly, there was some "minor" work needed to get the setup to work, as the coils were shorter than the factory setup.

EDIT: I found it: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...=191017&hl=cbr

I ran 16psi fine with stock coils.
I had a few overboost to around 20psi and the car ran fine too without any misfire.

What plugs are you using and how big are the gaps?

73Zero:

Regarding fperra's setup, I tried it. The heat shrink tubing melted after a couple of hours of driving, leaving me stranded. I also tried high temp heat shrink without success. Fortunately, I left the stock setup in place, as fperra described. So I was able to put the stock coils back in and get home.

Due to the unreliability, ended up using external MSD racing coils and plug wires with an MSD DIS-4. This setup is bulletproof! I am able to run without misfire using stock plug gaps at over 20 psi.

Regarding the AEM CDI, I also had reliability issues. After trying three AEM CDI's that all failed, I went to the MSD DIS-4 without any problems. I believe the AEM CDI could be a slightly better product than the DIS-4, but they had some serious reliability problems over the last year.

My experience is that the stock coils ran reliably up to 450-475 rwhp given some coaxing and tight plug gaps.

I am using Denso Iridium IK-24's at the stock gap running ~22 psi.
