Default cold air intake for supercharger?

not referring to the "stock" intake that comes with the comptech or vortech..

I currently have an "aem" style intake where it takes the cold air from the bumper(passenger side). Anyone ever modified their intake where instead of getting the air from the stock location, it is taken from the same source as an "aem" style intake? I dont even know if that would make a difference, but i'm guessing it would a little? Since both vortech/comptech have their filter surrounded by that plastic box, i'm assuming to keep heat away.. What are your thoughts? or has any1 already done this? If so, any improvements? I might actually test this theory out when i get my car to the dyno... Just wanted to see if any1 has done this yet..?

I wondered if it could be done or if anyone has done it yet. Why can't we run a tube down to the air inlet/brake duct like a CAI? Mine is already drilled out from the CAI I had.

Of course you can do it. You just have to make sure the pipe is large and smooth enough so that the increase due to cold air is greater than the decrease due to restriction. SC's suck a lot of air.

I'd actually like to revive this thread as I have a Vortech V2 with the "power cooler" on my 03 and I have a bumper that has that ram air cutout, I'd like to find a snorkel that will get inside that airbox to make sure I get cooler air as I live in South Florida and need all the cooler air I can get... Anyone have any ideas?

Holy back from the dead thread.

Check out SOS FAQ thread. Rainh8r made a custom intake. Sideways also has some options

This topic is a personal pet peave. would love to see a good cold air intake for my SOS supercharger kit. or one that could be fitted to it.
while on the cooling topic, do any supercharger guys have knowledge about louvered hoods, ways to cool the actual intake manifold like jet hot coating, or additional water-air mods?
thanks
