Thumbs up Cometic-2mm 3mm or inline

I just got off the phone with cometic about there HG, the stated the 2mm is a 5 layer piece and the 3mm is a three layer piece. I have read that inline is a 3 layer as well. I also asked if they were any differnces in strenght and he said no. I have been debating this for some time and would like to use the 2mm. Many posts seem to be older and I don't know if there product has changed.

If I go with the 2mm do I need to change the cam gear? Max boost to be safe.
If I go 3mm should I go IP or Cometic or are they the same? Max boost to be safe.
Goal is 400hp, gt 30, greddy ult

Thanks,

I would change the cam gear for both, but depending on your manifold and tuner, you may be able to hit 400 whp with the stock compression.

I had the cometic 3mm on and it blew between number 3 and number 4. It was on for less then 1200 miles. I have had the IP since with no issues and have been on it with more WHP and for alot more miles.

My 2mm Cometic is 4 layers not 5 While you probably don't have to clock the cam gear I did.

I've read the Inline gasket is a basically a metal spacer with an OEM HG on the mating surfaces.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. I guess that leaves me with the 2mm and the in-line pro. I have not seen to many people with blow 2mm ones but have read a few posts with 3mm cometic ones.

Yea spend the extra 100 bucks and go with the IP. Save your self the heartache and the time/money spent fixing the blown cometic.
