Default Compression test results 160-160-160-110

Ok, so i finally got my head back on and did a compression test today.

160-160-160-110

Engine hasn't been run in 9 months..... I remember reading something a long time ago, where a guy imported an engine for in nissan or something, and compression was really uneven. Then after running the car, compression was perfect.

I put oil in the 4th cylinder and it jumped up to 180ish....

Input appreciated....

I'm in the final stages of finishing my turbo project, and i'm concerned with the compression results..... Hopefully somebody has something to say that will make me feel better....

maybe you should try to do the leak down test, so you can find out what might be causing the problem. and if you put the oil and if the reading went up doesnt that mean you have leak around the rings??

The compression test needs to be done on a engine at operating temp

if thats the true compression, its time for a rebuild.

Maybe.. An engine that hasn't ran in 9 months isn't going to make the stock compression #'s

Yes your right, if the reading went up after you put oil in the cylinder your piston ring isn't sealing. May be time for a rebuild.

What are stock compression numbers for the S2000?

Yeah you need to do the test with the engine at operating temps.
When it heats up the rings will expand, giving better results.
This being said, I'd imagine after 9 months of sitting that your compression would be pretty low.

even if the engine is in operating temp when you did the test. its still not even across the board. one of the cylinders is not holding compression.
