Compressor Surge?
Hey guys,
three questions:
1) Should my TIAL Q BOV be open during idle?
2) It flutters when I switch gears while in boost, does that mean my spring is getting worn out or not heavy enough (used BOV)?
3) What size spring should I get if it is the spring, (I am running 20psi on a 9:1 compression)?
Thanks, The new search engine has not been helping me lately.

The bov should open when changing gears. I'd it's open under idle, that is not right. The spring psi just determines the lowest wg boost you can run.
Where are you getting your vacuum source from?

Even for a turbo it can be open under idle if your setup is efficient enough. with my turbo setup its open slightly at idle and you feel air pushing through. To OP: is it only fluttering during normal slightly in boost shifts or WOT? You could try a softer spring.
On idle its completely open... and its the tuner ran it from an already existing hose teed off of the hoses coming out of the intake. I forget the name.
The tuner said I should run a 9psi spring. Is that right? and yes it is turboed. it Flutters on short boost... I cant hear if it even goes off on WOT

Huh? The spring determines how much vacuum it takes to open. Whether or not it is open at idle depends on what spring you run and how much vacuum you pull.

You should be good with a 9psi spring. If it is still fluttering, there may be something wrong with the valve itself
