Default Comptech AC Info needed..

Hey guys,

Just picked up a comptech non ac and had a couple of questions. For starters, just as a heads up i did try to use the search, I cant find where to purchase a 7 to 7.5 psi pulley. I went to SOS but they have pulleys much smaller. Also to verify to get 7psi, I would need a 4" pulley.

I currently have a vafc and am going to install the high pressure fuel pump but want to stay with the stock injectors. Ive heard and read you can go up to around 7psi without a problem maxing out your injectors. I also purchased some colder spark plugs today, NGK, forgot the part number but they are the iridium ones.

I have an 00 and wanted to verify if it was necessary to update the banjo bolts. I ordered them a few months back but never got around to install them. I just dont want to F-up anything.

Im trying to achine 300-315 to the wheels. Currently have the vafc and test pipe with everything else being stock. With that setup would I be able to achieve those numbers?

In the future, want to upgrade to get around 340-370 hp. Would I be able to achieve that with a 11-12 psi pulley with intercooler or would i lose to much psi.

Thanks for your help. Trying to get all the parts in before the SC comes in.

that setup wont get you to 300. stock injectors are too small, 7psi isnt enough boost and a VAFC can only PULL fuel out. non aftercooled comptechs are gonna max out around 260hp probably.

get a aftercooler, bigger injectors, AEM EMS, 10psi pulley and make 350. you'll be glad you did

Are you sure 7psi wont be enough. I have read multiple threads which confirm 7psi is safe for stock injectors. You can turn up the adjustable fpr to compensate for the added fule needed.

Regarding upgrading to 350, eventually I want to get there, just want to do it in steps.

My setup would be 650cc injectors, ems, 11-12 psi pulley with intercooler.

I have read to go with a higher pulley since the intercooler looses some psi. I wont mind getting an aftercooler but its expensive from what ive seen.

It won't be enough to get to 300 rwhp, I can attest to this. The charge air gets too hot for it to be efficient enough to get there with the boost that low. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the AP2 pulley on an AP1 will net around 7-8 PSI. There's a FMIC intercooler kit that's a knock off of the UR one for about $450 that a few members have had some success with.

Thanks for the post. Didnt think th heat would be that much of a factor with low boost. Also, while moving doesnt the current system non ac system do a decent job at bringing colder air due to the comptech box.

Regarding the pulley yes I saw that the ap2 stock pulley is similar to around 7psi which is great to know. Im trying for now to keep the stock injectors and just to a minimal tune with my vafc.

Regarding the FMIC, I would love to get one, looks are amzing, and have seen the knock off on ebay, but my concern is the huge loss in psi. I have read around 3-4psi loss. For that I should just wait for a used aftercooler to pop up.

I dont mind losing around 1-1.5psi if needed since the AC lose around .5.

Non intercooled systems generate about 10whp for pound of boost. Aftercooled/intercooled wil get you over 300whp easy.

I'd like to chime in if I may. I have a very similar setup to what you are describing. Last summer I had a non ac'd comptech kit installed on my AP1 with the AP2 pulley (7psi). The car was and still is completely stock minus the supercharger, and fuel pump of course, and it put down 277whp. I do not have a test pipe or VAFC like you. I have also searched quite a bit and have noticed some members with similar setups achieve higher numbers and some lower. My guess is that you would probably see similar numbers, probably even a little higher with your test pipe. Hope this helps, feel free to pm me or post if you have any more questions.

7psi is safe on stock injectors and tune you will just need a wideband to make sure your not running lean...and good luck finding the 7psi pulley their becoming more rare

Great to hear. Regarding the pulley think it's a 4-2" pulley which is standard on the ap2 kit. I'll post the results once I dyno.

I'm almost positive the 4.2 comes with the ap2 kit also. Only saying that because I have an extra 4.0 pulley in my garage and I was told it was an 8psi.
