No. The Vortech black boxes infiltrate the timing and MAP signal only. The Comptech ESM is only a MAP clamp.

It has been said that the ECU will correct for VAFC settings over time and that you have to reset the ECU almost on a daily basis. I'm not so sure there is any truth in this. I've never used such a device.

I have had the VAFC II and, though you don't have to reset the ecu daily, a map whack every couple days and an ecu reset once every couple weeks was helpful. I can not tell you why...all I can say is that the car ran smoother and would go in and out of Vtec without issues after I started doing this (as opposed to before)...
