hi all, i just picked up an my00 ap1 with a comptech s/c with a/c. how do you know if the aftercooler water pump is running? when does it turn on? or is it on constant? i've installed a vortech kit and if i remember correctly the pump turns on with key on power, but this is wired in to the airpump connector? so im a little confused... thanks for any of your help!

 

The Aftercooler should be wired in so that it is running at all times, with the ign on. You can remove the fill cap and see the coolant moving inside wile its on.

 

hmmm... i topped off the water/coolant in the aftercooler and i tried key on and saw nothing and also tried to feel the hose but i think i got nothing.... maybe its time for a new pump

 

You'll hear it running once fuel pump is primed. Turn the key and listen for a soft hum

 

Check the relay first, failing that it's probably the brushes.

Give it a whack if it starts its the brushes.
