Default Comptech S/C without aftercooler?

Hi all,

If you didnt want huuuuge bhp and didnt want the hassle of fitting all the A/C stuff, then the Comptec without A/C is a good choice....

But are there any temperature issues with it? In the Uk we dont see really hot temps, most of the year its reasonably cool.

Given that, is it safe to run without A/C? Im not too fussed about the power lost from not having it, just concerned about any excess combustion temps etc.

Cheers,

People have been running non-intercooled Comptech supercharger kits for years before the intercooler came into being. They ran fine and some are still running fine. Just because they introduced an intercooler doesn't mean that now suddenly, the non-intercooled kit is a concern. I don't get your logic.

I just saw your other thread about your Vortech. Why the concern over the Comptech?

The only reason comtech added a A/C is because when Vortech's kit came out it had one.

Thanks all.

X - no real logic behind the question, I hadn't realised the non A/C version had been around that long.

I only want a bit more power and like the simplicity of the Comptech system with no A/C.

My concern was that increased charge temps aren't good but I dont imagine the temps developed by the S/C are that much.

There ARE some good reasons for the AC, but its not necessary.

1. Reduces heat soak in the summer. Its not going to hurt anything if you do get heat soak, just a little loss in power.

2. If you plan on increasing the boost down the road, the AC is a must. If you are going to stick with the base kit, no big deal though.

Running without an a/c and with a 7 lbs pulley since 03. No problems here, though I suspect I may be losing horses due to heat soak on hot days. But even bone stock s2k suffer from this problem. Going to be experimenting with water injection as an alternative to the aftercooler.
