Default Comptech SC intake options

Hey guys,

So I'm having my Comptech SC installed this Friday, and I'm very excited. The standard Comptech air box/filter doesn't seem like the best design to me (and that black duct tape intake tube is ugly). So I'm wondering what options I have, that will benefit performance down the line (after EMS/tune/injectors/high boost/SOS throttle body, etc).

I will be running the Aftercooled set up on stock boost for now. Berk headers/70mm HFC/70mm Invidia Q300 exhaust. I'll be increasing the boost and tuning it later this summer.

I see tons of guys running these type of filters on their turbo set ups, would this benefit my SC set up?

I searched, btw, with barely any results.

Thanks!

I don't really understand why people ditch the box and go with a mushroom filter on the end of the supercharger. You are going to get a lot of heat soak that way, sucking up all the hot air that is passing though the radiator. IMHO you should just keep the box that protects the filter from the heat.

Are there any other designs that would suck in more air than the Comptech box, while not sucking in lots of hot air (without doing a CAI set up)? Does the aftercooler help with heat soak?

Agreed. Just change the elbow to something that looks prettier. That's what I did.

try that, should work, it creates a 90 degree bend. As long as there is enough clearance.

I had that kit and it ran like perfection. Don't try and reinvent the wheel. HC

That HKS filter has very poor filtration, the HP gains for a different filter on the end of the SC are going to be very negligible, I wouldnt shoot for 1-2 hp on the buttdyno for higher Si levels and increased iron levels on my next UOA.

I made a post about the AFE Blue filter that looks great, you can get a new elbow tha doesnt have all that black tape on it and it will look much better.

I have a vortech sc but I got a 4" aluminum pipe and got it so the filter is placed right by the fender hole. I also have an AUT cooling plate that allows cool air to go right at the filter. I also have an Ebay filter heat shield thing. After lots of driving the filter is nice and cool.
