PS- all the Comptech's I priced were going for about 4100+ and Vortech's about 4200+ and I paid more than that. The list on the Vortech is $5395 which no one gets!!!
I think these are two different units and I think if someone were looking for a easier way to make power they should go with the Comptech, as from everything I've read you may have to do some "fiddling" with the Vortech. I, also, am trying to be subjective and not turn this into a this vs. that, as both units are very good and offer different people different options for their needs. A day after I paid for mine a slighty used Comptech came on the board for sale and I would have definitely gone that route had it been there when I bought mine. That's how close it was as to which one I ended up with! Phil

Phil-

Just out of curiosity, did the folks that recommended the Vortech over the Comptech give a reason?

They said the warranty was better and it seemed they all mentioned it was a better "deal" w/ the aftercooler and BOV and said that it makes a little more power and I vaugely remember something about the type of quiet gears???

PS-I am interested in your Exedy clutch so please answer my questions in your post/thread. tHANKS pHIL

Vortech's warranty is 3 years, and Comptech's warranty is 2 years? the warranty is on everything the kit comes with?

Thanks,
Chris C.

Check my post again - I said "boost upgrade/aftercooler"; those numbers (I think) were with the unit pushing 10psi throught he aftercooler prototype. Lesser numbers (320 or so) were had by boosting at 7-8 psi with the prototype aftercooler.

Mind you, I'm just quoting what I read in assorted places - I've got no "inside info" on any of this. It's all personal opinion and what you feel more comfortable with.

Ryan, Sorry, I wasn't responding to your post at all, I believe where I read it the boost upgrade wasn't mentioned. For all you power whores out there, I'm no expert, but I do a lot of research, and in an S2000 application w/11:1 compresssion would be leery of running 10 LBS of boost without internal mods to the engine. I think a lot of the talk about the Comptech upgrade's HP is purely rumor, as I understand it is still in testing and by the time it makes the kit sold on the open market, we'll have to wait and see what it does HP-wise. We will probably see a slighty detuned version of the proto type when it hits. Phil

YS-Is the BOV a "cheapie" that comes with the Vortech kit? Will I want to upgrade this item as well? I have heard or the Tiel and it is supposed to be a work of art. How much $$???
