Thumbs up Comptech snail rebuild

I've heard that the supercharger will slowly lose its ability to compress air efficently over time. I have an older non-aftercooled S/C and was wondering if anyone had Comptech or Paxton rebuild their snail? What is the service life of the S/C?

Give Paxton a call and ask them, you will find their number if you google for them.

I was well impressed with paxton when I broke my snail myself
sent it back to paxton and they fixed it for free and shipped it back to the UK for free.

out of curiousity are you running the 7lb pulley without an aftercooler? If so, what all did you need to do to compensate for the extra boost? I called Comptech and inquired and they said it was nothing more than a few turns of the FPR. Im still hesitant at this point because I havnt been able to track anyone down that has done it. How does it run? Any problems? Hit me up with a PM if you get a chance.

Thanks for the info pushin9!

Weather or not you have the a/c doesn't make a difference with the boost level or pulley size. The important thing is that your air to fuel ratio is at a safe range.

When I had a shop install the pulley. I had them dyno with a wideband to see if my af ratios were safe. It was found that no adjustments were needed in my case. I've heard a few people run lean at the top with the smaller pulley and needed to adjust the FPR a few turns. About 10k miles now with no problems.

I believe 7lbs is the most your can run without maxing out the stock injectors.

I am using the Goodyear Gatorback belt P/N 4060400 and with the 7psi pulley it puts the bolt on the tensioning bracket right in the middle of the adjustment.

The kit I bought came with the 7psi pulley so off hand I don't know the size or where to get one. I am sure someone else can chime in on that.
