Default Comptech Supercharger

Hello all,
I was thinking of getting my 02 supercharged with the comptech kit just because...well, it's pimp! Would adding a SC bring the car's overall reliability down? If so by how much? How long will a the sc last? Would honda dealerships install this? Where is the best place(cheapest) to buy this kit?

You should do a search in the force induction forums. They have a lot of threads about different kits and what not. Getting your car superchargered or even turbochargered can be reliable as long as it is done right. And don't cheap out on the tuning that's the most crucial part.

Okay, well here is what you want to hear. I have the Vortech. Though they are not the same kit. They are pretty damned close. When i first had it installed, the people botched it pretty damned bad and i drove 1000miles back home with a broken auger and bent arbor. I was all misaligned with my puley tensioner and it drove fine the entire time. I even raced a Trans Am and had no problems. Now that i got fixed i got an extra 40whp and the same reliability. The supercharger will last a good while if you take care of it. I change my oil every 2k miles and am sure to check it everytime i re-fuel. So just take care of your car and it will be fine. I say it is worth it. My Dyno was a straight 45 degree line from left to right. Its so consistent with acceleration and pull. Get it tuned though.

This is exciting stuff. Thanks for the answers. I don't plan to drive it hard at all. I never have. I just like to see that sweet looking metal snail shell (blower) when I open the hood lol. The extra low end torque couldn't hurt either! Oh yes, of course the sound too. Anyways, I'll look through the FI forum for some more information about where to get it done, price etc in Maryland. Cheers.

I Have an 06 comptech charged and Its been great so far. no complaints. Dont get too excited about the sound of the blower since the novi 1000 is a very quite unit besides a slight whine at idle.

It is very reliable. Plus you can send them in for rebuild.

You won't get extra low end torque with a ctsc or vtsc kit. or at least not much at all. All above 6k rpm's with them. Same like stock with more power.

Its all relitive however to the boost amount you are running. In the stock trim most of what has been said is accurate. More boost is more power everywhere and even equates to more in the low end as well, though that is not where it is meant to shine. The Novi 1000 makes an audiable wine/wistle wile driving/crusing when you start using the smaller pullies for more boost. The blower speed is relivent, in stock trim you usually cant hear it at that speed becuase your exuast is drowning the sound. You start producing boost at 3k rpm with this kit. I consider this low end power, however boost is minimal there when it starts. Still precievable though. You wont find yourself needing to pull out of 6th gear on the hyway nearly as much as before.

if your looking into either the COMPTECH or VORTECH kits and arent going to go nuts with them, why not save $$$$ and get a used Greddy Kit
