Default Comptech, Vortech, SOS supercharger with FMIC

I have seen Intake Air Temp problems with longer drives and especially on open track days with the original Aftercooler setups.

Who has made the switch to a Front Mount Intercooler with the original style supercharger kits and what are the details? Core size, piping size, routing..... Let's see the Fab work. Another important question is was a pressure drop noticed when adding all that new plumbing?

Fmic you'll usually lose 2-4 psi compared to after cooler setup.

Not worth it in my opinion. Try using some redline water wetter. That lowered my AIT by 10* or 15* F (I can't remember) under normal conditions.

The pressure loss is substantial enough to net less power then a good working after cooler, and throttle response also suffers. Fmic are best suited on Turbo cars. Running the over sized racing heat exchanger for the after cooler is key in keeping those IAT down best. They look just like the Fmic from the outside of the car if that gets you off.

I am running a Vortech SI trim SC with a 6" crank and 4.5" blower pulley and see 7psi at 8200 rpm. I believe this is 1.5 psi less than what is typically seen on a SC trim blower running an aftercooler (8.5 psi). I believe I only see 1.5 less boost because of the upgraded trim level. I am very happy with the performance and the car drives perfectly and have zero issue with throttle response or any other complaints mentioned on some threads here. I am currently working to purchase a 6.5 crank and 3.8 blower pulley which will spin the blower to 50495 which is well within the max rpm of the SI trim. I am not sure the psi to be had with the new setup due to the SI trim and FMIC setup but will be sure to report back. I am running 2.5 ID piping.

Looks like you would be losing a bit more though since the si trim should make a couple more lbs of boost usually.

Correct the SI trim seems to fill in 1 psi of boost so I am loosing 1.5psi rather than 2.5.

I ran this setup back in 2007 when there was only like 3 guys who's ever done it. I wanted to get some hard numbers so that I could contribute for those who wanted to go that route instead of an aftercooler but my tuner shut down my dyno session due to my a/f ratio being too high(ran it out of the box with FMU only). Looked nice and though it felt good to know that I fabbed the whole system up myself, I was bummed out I never got hard numbers to prove anything.
