If you want the serial gauge to read air fuel you have to buy the aem inline wideband sensor with out the gauge. Only the older model aem ems series one 1052u has the built in uego
SOS told me to get the UEGO sensor for tuning. IMO I like the PLX DM6, and mount it in place of the radio mode button
(I never use mode, just the volume and mute) I'm going to add one device to that area! AEM or PLX
the AEM might be to big for that area, might?

What are the needed gauges? Boost, AFR, Temp, oil temp? what is really needed?

I went with the DM100 because its the perfect size for that location. Just gotta use the dremel to trim around it. I have A/F, oil temp, oil pressure. Didn't need boost cause my map sensor reads it.

DM100 is discontinued now it DM6. Are you SC or Turbo? what are you running for UEGO?. Are you running AEM EMS-2? thanks

Guess I'll call PLX Tuesday and ask about the interface and UEGO needs, when using the AEM EMS-2.

i used a hole saw and round file to cut a hole in the radio door was pretty easy i didn't want to mess with the radio controls at the time i run a plx dm6 afr oil temp and pressure also if you don't have a modifry water temp fix on ap1 you might want to add a water temp as the display in the ap1 is very vague 2nd bar130-160 F 3rd bar 160-235 F which is too wide of a range so on an fi car 4 bars=235+F not good my two cents

Guess I'll call PLX Tuesday and ask about the interface and UEGO needs, when using the AEM EMS-2.

They told you to get a UEGO because it is the bare minimum requirement for tuning. However it's not called a "UEGO" thats just AEM's version. The proper term is a wideband o2 sensor. The car comes stock with a narrowband o2 (only reads around 14.7) but for proper tuning, you need a wideband (AEM reads between 10.0 and 18.5.) You will need something that has the ability to read the Air/Fuel Ratios in order to get tuned, and thats what the wideband sensor does.

You CAN buy one of these multi-gauges, but like some of the other folks in here said, you will have to physically buy the wideband o2 sensor (the part that you stick in the exhaust stream so it can "smell" the fuel mixture) so that the gauge has something to get a reading off of. PLX has a wideband that they sell, you could probably just buy the sensor without the gauge, and then get the multi-gauge and hook up the multi-gauge to the wideband sensor for your AFR readings and then hook it up to the AEM EMS to get all the other readings (load, boost, Oil Pressure etc.)

I plan on supercharging in the next few months and I currently have the AEM UEGO wideband as it's own gauge, and will be buying the AEM Serial gauge a long with it so I will have two gauges, one that ONLY monitors the AFR (My wideband) and then the serial gauge which I can flip through and read things like boost, IATs, oil pressure, load, oil temp, coolant temp etc. etc. etc.

Hope this helps.

you do not need a wideband for tuning unless you want to tune the car on the street your self. I had my car tuned with the aem series 2 with out a windband and ran it for a few months that way. Any dyno and tuner will have a wideband at the dyno that they will hook up to your car and they will use that to tune your car. But if your aem does not have a wideband hooked up to you your car will be set to run only in open loop after it is tuned because there is no o2 sensor wideband feedback thus resulting in worse gas millage. With an aem ems it is highly recommended that you get a wideband hooked up to the ecu so that you can monitor air fuel and so the ecu can be set to run in close loop with o2 feedband on in low throttle situation to preserve gas millage.

If you have a aem series 2 ems just buy the serial gauge and the inline wideband controller without the gauge and wire it into the ems.

Here is mu setup. dual gauge pillar. top gauge is just an aem digital boost gauge and bottom gauge is the serial gauge.

I got two AEM gauges in a SOS pod. One A/F and One Boost. The boost gauge started making funny buzzing noises after 2hrs of use. Afterwhich it stopped working all together. When popping the gauges in and out of the pod, due to my incredible strength and very large attractive muscles, I popped the A/F gauge out with such force, it flew across the garage and smacked the ground. I'm sure that aided in it buzzing and breaking. Knowing your exact boost is not very critical, though in a belt slip prone SC system like mine, buying one was justifiable. I think I might buy an EGT gauge to replace boost tho.

I don't like the idea of an a pillar gauge pod so ended up doing two things.

UEGO replaced the big audio button, also needed to remove the switchboard from behind the panel to make the gauge fit.
Found myself a set of Rick's gauges which replaces the stock radio door.

Keeps everything looking a little less flashy

Supercharged, I have the bosch wideband I ordered from plx. Currently running Flashpro. Have my narrowband stock sensor turned off and tapped the wideband into the ecu.

PLX you have the boxes have heard there is lag time, bc info travels from one box to the next, next next....
