Unhappy Crazy Vortech Noises (yep, another thread)

Hey all!

So, I just had my first track day ever with my new V3 Supercharger. I've only had it on the car since January 11th, and I've put about 5000 miles on it (Mostly highway), One autocross, and one track day.

I did my 3rd race session for the day and everything sounded great -- no odd noises, no warning. I parked it, and about 30min later I started it up again to go out for one last race. To my surprise, I started it and it sounded like this:

I can't imagine my bearings going out this quick. I don't overtighten my belt so I am not entirely sure how this happened. I always made sure I could only turn the belt 90 degrees and no less, as seen with the pics in this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry17986924

Another thing that I can't figure out is why this noise didn't show when I finished my last session. It started immediately after it had 30 minutes to cool.

Here is a video of me turning the vortech pulley without the belt on:

Seems like most of the problems posted by people with vortech or sos superchargers lately have been the self lubed ones, hmmmm.

A little background -- I dyno'd in January at 349HP. When I went back to the Dyno on 5/21, my numbers were at 319HP.

Tuner said he could see a little parasitic loss... but we were also in warmer conditions.

Fluid was changed at the recommended 2500 miles. Fluid is currently full, no leaks.

That's a crazy hp loss. T1's dyno doesn't read high, if anything it's low. I dyno'd 242hp there and 272hp at anoter shop with very little change in the tune.

Good thing you bought your kit new. Time to call vortech on tuesday

Yup, call 'em up and see if you can get another charger. Maybe you should look into the self lubers failing too.

Problem is I changed the pulley... so they'll likely deny warranty.

Change it back and then delete that post and I'll delete mine.

problem is they put a small amount of glue on the pulley to tell if you have changed it or not

Anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong with the SC?
