Default CTSC blower pully removal

I can't seem to find a key way or some way of locking the pulley in place to loosen the nut. I was told that if I break a belt that I should remove the pulley to make sure there is no belt pieces against the seal or it will create an oil leak. Apparently many have had this cause the seal to go bad, so I need to remove the pulley to get to the seal and make sure its clean. Also any recommendations for cleaning the seal? I see allot of rubber dust around the blower as well. Do I dare spray wd40 or brake cleaner in there to rinse it out or should I just wipe it? Thanks guy's!

Also since we are on the subject of pulley's, which one is it that gets changed to up the boost? Is it the crank pulley or the blower pulley? Seems like either one would do the same thing, though better access with the blower.

Blower pulley is changed to adjust boost.

Get a new belt and leave the rest alone!
There is no way IMO that a broken belt could get in a seal. The rubber dust you see is completely normal and is just from the belt wearing. My old kit as well as all that I ever saw did the same.

Ok but how do you remove the pulley if needed? How do you lock up the pulley so you can unbolt it?

Just hold the pulley with your hand and use a rattle gun on the bolt.

So there is no pin hold or notch anywhere to lock it i place? I don't have a rattle gun. I have a wrench. Can I get enough tension on the belt to hold it? What do guys do when they don't have air tools? Thanks!

Take it to some one that does.

Or buy an electric impact wrench.

I used one of those wrenches that has a rubber strap from craftsman ( red one in pic http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945570000P ) and a 1/2 drive ratchet with socket and a hammer. I had one person hold the pulley with the strap wrench and i put the 1/2 drive ratchet and socket on the bolt and tapped it with a hammer and it broke free. When putting it on I did the reverse and was able to torque it to spec with no problems.
