Default ctsc non-ac reliability?

hey guys i just bought an ap1 comptech sc kit for my ap2 (2005). i was just wondering what kind of boost i would be seeing with the 4.5 stock ap1 pulley? I am also concerned about the reliability of the kit being non aftercooled, but mind you if i was to go past stock boost i would consider a fmic. so far i have greddy EMU just to use the map camp feature for now until i up the boost in the future and run it with some beefy injectors

any input on my current situation?

fyi its an 05 rio with hks hi-power with invidia tp, and mugen ap2 header.

thanks in advance

i ran that setup for a while, on an 05.

i ran the black box, and it ran terribly lean.
it also ran hot, but that's just me guessing... it seemed waaaay hotter in the engine bay over stock.. and thats pretty bad.
i'd reccomend custom fabbing a fmic, then go to a smaller pulley, add the proper tune, and you'll be more than happy.

iirc, you'll be in low boost with that pulley, somewhere around 5.5psi.
think of it as super-vtec...

lol super-vtec

What was your mpg like? When u ran lean was that with the fpr adjusted on maximum?
Whenever I run lean on my turbo b16 I just up my fpr couple psi and I'm good

the fpr was adjused by a tech that specialized in factory ctsc installations.
still ran like poo.

i had it back off the car in under a month... never really had time to mess with it.

you can find aftercooler kits FS for cheap these days. i've seen a bunch floating around the FS forums. i suggest installing/tuning your setup with the aftercooler from the get go because there is a 99% chance you will want to upgrade shortly after

make your setup as complete as possible from the beginning. don't rush to get it on the car. do it as right as possible the first time around. trust me!

i guess i can do with the stock set-up until i want to go higher in boost, then ill consider the aftercooler, afterall its only gonna be around 4.5psi on my ap2 anyways. At that psi i dont even think it will lean out, unless the ap1 fpr has a different rate then the ap2 fpr/

might as well just get a 4.25" pulley to begin with. you won't need bigger injectors or advanced engine management, and with that you'll make only 280whp and like 160tq anyway depending on your other mods

I ran the non aftercooled kit on my car with the AP2 pulley on my AP1. It ran rich down (mid to high tens) low and around high 12's up top. I never had a problem with the kit.
I have since sold the kit and went Greddy and am now selling that and am going inline pro.

The car will suck down low but vtec will be fun.

I've had the non-ac comptech on my car for a few years now and it has been bullet proof. I haven't had to do anything to it. Someone else, I forget who, has theirs on for over 200k miles and still going strong. So it can be done.
