Default curiosity...

Im curious as to why there isnt much talk about the kaaz diff? at 950 it seems like a reasonable alternative to difftechnics. Its only 950, and even with a comptech reinforced diff housing it would be cheaper. I thought I remembered them being a decent option when i considered FI my rsx-s. Is there something i dont know about them?

I think the kaaz is just the internals.. I could be wrong though.

I believe it is only the internals, but if you replaced the housing (comptech) as well what could break? axels maybe? Seems like it would be a more inexpensive option whats wrong with my reasoning?

The comptech diff housing is the OEM diff housing with a reinforcement plate on each cap.

Kaaz replaces the stock torsen LSD with a clutch type.

Comptech does exchanges for good CORES...

I don't see why they do cores if they're just giving add-in caps. Do they cryo the housings or machine anything? I couldn't tell even the least bit of difference side by side.

You guys already lost track of the original question.

The reason people are talking about difftechnics (however its spelled) is because its a complete new differential and axles. You basically pull the S2k diff out and swap in a Nissan diff. Your talking new gears, housing, axles, etc. Its MUCH stronger. If the normal S2k diff was Joe Average, comptech reinforced was spiderman, then Difftechnics would be the Hulk.

All the Kazz is doing is turning your 1way lsd into a 1.5 clutch type.

I said the KAAZ was an LSD not a DIFF.

So the Kaaz/Comptech combo is NOT really an alternative to the Diff Technics.

Its a modification for traction and partially a band aid to the stock housing which happens to work very well if you don't launch and have a ton of boost.

Diff Technics might be much stronger, but the stock diff is not exactly weak. It does what it was designed for. If you want to drag race with V8 HP, you will also need a diff to match.

Hey your right, the kaaz is an lsd and not a diff. I'll have to fix my post.

What I was referring to was the original posters question, which was wouldn't a kaaz with a comptech reinforced diff be a good alternative to the Diff Technics.

You guys were jabbering about caps and not explaining the main difference between doing the Kaaz with Comptech vs Diff Technics, which are by nature two very different animals that just take up the same space.

If you'd have posted what you have up above the first time it would have shortened the thread
