Thumbs down Custom Exhaust Question for F/I

Hey guys another quick question,

I was looking at the HKS Hi-Power Exhaust for the Greddy Turbo kit, Says it comes with 3in piping and from what I have read, not much power increase, but sounds good. What about two magnaflow mufflers with 3inch inlets, and then getting custom 3in piping from a muffler shop? I am sure it would be $300.00 or so cheaper then the Greddy, but how do you guys think it would sound, and being the HKS doesnt do much for me power wise anyway, I can't imagine this type of custom exhaust would be much worse?/? What do you guys think

PS I know it won't be as pretty looking, but with the stock Tips back on, it would look.........well like stock, what do you guys thing?

the HKS is not a full 3 inch anyway.. its easier to go and get a muffler and have a local shop install it with a 3 inch pipe from the down pipe.

i think part of the good sound from HKS is from the muffler, so if you change the muffler out, wouldn't that be changing the sound of the exhaust?

Well, I would do MAGNAFLOW Mufflers, and have the Muffler shop make me 3in piping back to the cat/testpipe I just don't want it to sound like a "broken v-8" or something, I wonder if I go to a muffler shop how heavy the exhaust would be as well, I dunno I like the HKS Hi-Power for my Turbo set-up, but not sure if it will be worth it, maybe the sound, I dunno just trying to find the best combo.........

I had the HKS cat back.. and when i went turbo my tuner said i could not really use it because it was not a true 3 inch pipe.. so he told me to buy a HKS 3in inlet muffler and have the piping done from the down pipe back...
