Default Decision Made: Going to SC My '05 AP2

I've decided I'm going to SC my '05 AP2. I have the money and green light from the wifey , so I "just" need to decide. Up until the the last few days or so, I didn't really keep tabs on the SC offerings. All I knew was Comptech and that was it.

But now there appears to be different versions/generations of the Comptech/CT-Engineering kit, not to mention offerings from Vortech, KW and SoS. As a result, I'm a little overwhelmed right now to say the least on which route to go.

Now I'm not one to keep on seeking out more and more output, so I'm after a kit that offers reliability, little to no maintenance/tinkering required; essentially a set it and leave it type of thing. I assume/hope such a kit exists and always thought the Comptech offering(s) fit the bill?

In any event, I drove a '04 (maybe it was '05) yesterday with a basic non-aftercooled Comptech kit. I'm pretty certain everything else was stock save for upgraded clutch. The owner said it dyno'd around 297 or so if I recall correctly. Based on that as a baseline, I wouldn't mind a little more oomph so I guess 330 to 350 would be my "goal."

I have a HKS exhaust mated with a Berk TP along with a ProFlow TB. I don't know how much additional gains I'd see with these mods in conjunction with the basic Comptech kit but I'm going to assume it would yield an additional 10 or so?

So what kit(s) should I look at in greater detail based on the above? To get to 330 - 350, is it realistic to achieve "reliability, little to no maintenance/tinkering required; essentially a set it and leave it type of thing?" Given my additional mods, I assume I will need further tuning than the out-of-box setup?

Another thing is, should I just go used to save money? It appears the Comptech and Vortech kits are the only kits readily available on the used market so based on what I'm after, should I just go that route instead of the newer KW and SoS kits?

Sorry for so many questions. I'd really appreciate some feedback and thoughts to enhance the research and decision-making process.

Oh, I rarely drive the s2000, but it would mainly be used in "daily-driving" fashion. As for tracking (i.e., road course), I may track this car now that I've sold my motorcycle which was my main track toy the last 6 years or so. But I don't see myself getting back into it hardcore like I used to prior to taking up riding.

damn man you sound just like me. I've been doing trackdays on my 07 cbr600 and other bikes for about 6 years now. Haven't done any this year because i bought a S2000 last fall. sold it and bought an 04 with 17k on it. make a long story short, go with the Kraftwerks like i did. strong smooth power, so far seems dead cold reliable. works great for everyday driving. the big plus is the rotrex blower. read up on them and i think you will go with the kw kit.

I would go Vortech and I would also just buy a new kit and avoid all the headaches of missing and worn parts. superchargers.com has very good prices.
My second choice would be SOS.

If you go with SOS, get an oil fed blower

SL have issues with extended periods of constant abuse (or use etc) on a track.

sos or vt tuner kit 1200 blower non SL, aem ems or kpro, id1000 injectors, 10-12psi, upgraded clutch and ap1 flywheel.

that should be 320+, prolly more like 350+.

id say get the sot roots blower kit, but i dont think sot makes it any more

if 330-350 was your goal, my powerband is pretty sick for 10psi. but the blower is pretty much maxxed out

You can go the way I went, but go with Vortech or SOS.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone; though I'm not sure I have a clearer idea on anything yet lol.

I'm glad you mentioned the SOT kit. I came across the SOT kit after starting this thread.

Per http://www.stageonetuning.com/s2000-...arger-kit.aspx, there are remaining "tuner" kits for $4,395. I would essentially have to source my own "EM (ie, Greddy E-Manage Ultimate), fuel injectors, fuel pump, and spark plugs."

This seems rather intriguing to say the least.

Is this a good deal?
