Default DEI Titanium series is GARBAGE!

Sorry just needed to vent after forking out around $200 for the DEI titanium turbo blanket and heat wrap. The stuff is terrible! It fell apart in no time at all! I put MAYBE 5000kms on this stuff.

The Turbo blanket looks like it go eaten by a dog and it was always secured tightly with mechanics wire.

Are others running the PFAB ELT topmount needing to use a turbo blanket? I still have the OEM hood and wrapped everything out of precaution but not sure that it is necessary.

Has anyone tried the heatshields by Turbonetics?

Wow that looks bad. Weird... I thought I read a lot of people who said it was very durable...

How many times did you take it on/off? Did you ever get any oil on it?

Maybe took it off twice? I always reinstalled it with new mechanics wire and made sure it was tight.

The heat wrap crapped out before anything else. Probably only lasted about 1000kms max. I rewrapped the downpipe with the cheap standard heat wrap and it lasted 4k and is still fully intact.

Here is the remainder of the heat wrap. I removed about 20 pieces about 4 inches long and these were the longer pieces that are very brittle and falling apart.

Here is my DP after using USED wrap from Siadam and lasting another 4k for myself and still going strong. needs to be tightened up a bit but still is not breaking down like the "titanium" stuff.

It is my experience (and many others I know) that this one is great quality, lasts a long time, and looks great (especially in black). We've had two of them in the past and they have held up great.

Old setup ~4 years ago, don't have it anymore as I have a new engine and am SC'd again.

I have the PFAB ELMT. I also use o turbo blanket. I used it from the beginning so i cannot tell you if it's necessary or not. I believe whatever heat insulation you use it will be for good. Here is a photo of mine.

I wrapped my J's manifold in DEI titanium. I bought their locking ties as well. The Locking ties are utter crap, or maybe i dont know how to use em properly? Though i followed the instructions i just couldnt get the ties to hold, ending up using locking wire.

when it comes to turbo blankets, I just get the ebay stuff. Ive even bought a t3 heat blanket and then put a t4 over it for added cover.

I never saw the need to spend 200$ on a turbo blanket- theres no crazy science to a blanket when you really think about it.

ebay all day- standard blankets like 30$
