Default Is this Detonation?

Hey guys I recently installed the highboost kw kit w/ hondata reflash
however I have J's Header installed also and the reflash was never made with aftermarket header in mind so.......
I think am detonating after 7700rpms but am not sure cause i dont know what its like.

Here is a video from my phone... when passing 7700rpms the revs seems like its hitting a wall like a rev limiter but I dont feel complete power cut off.

I can't be sure from the video; perhaps take a look at your plugs right after those WOT runs?

Also, might want to get to a dyno soon just to get some A/F runs.

Are you running a test pipe as well?

Its hard to say exactly but I would assume that is detonation. Definately not something to do again until you figure it out.

It's probably the plugs. My car was doing the same thing when I got my NA tune because I had plugs that were gapped for a FI setup. Once I put the stockers back in, everything was fine.

You should try using plugs that are gapped at 0.033

andre, i had the same problem with the plugs you originally had for the NA tune in my FI setup on the dyno; I think it had to do something with the cooper plugs being non-resistor type and something werid about the MY06++

i now have step colder iridiums which are resisted and work perfectly..

dave, are you running on stock plugs? i still have these step colder iridium plugs! ask my bro...
I think the gapping has a lot to do with it as well. Cause the stock gapping is 0.044, so since I had 0.033 in there, I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Also, it seems that everyone changes to 0.033 gapping with any FI setup anyway and are pleased with them... so I guess it's worth it.

So are you guys gapping these iridiums ? or leaving them the way they come?

Reason i ask, this was posted in the Big kraftwerks thread. Just wondering if there is any truth to it.

FYI becareful not to gap thoses plugs I didnt and my car runs fine, NGK IFR8H11 (Stock 5068).

When you gap them you remove the plating at the tip and turn the plug into a cheepy one.

This applies to iridium plugs. If you try to change the gapping on iridium plugs, they will break or fracture due to them being very fragile.

Iridium plugs are bought at the correct gapping distance or just don't buy them.
