Default Differential Question

My car is currently making 546whp, I recently took it to the track and ended up breaking my drivers side axle. I am now paranoid of breaking my differential. (If I wasn't already) So my question is, How many of you are breaking Axles/Differentials at the track? If you are, What are your tire setups? I'm pretty sure my issue was because of the tires I was using. (255 Hankook Evo v12's) I'm looking to buy a set of 255 M/T ET Streets for my AP1 wheels. Thanks for any help!

Your gonna need this.. http://fullblownmotorsports.com/perf...0-rear-end-kit

And a little boost by gear for your trans. You have enough power to break your trans

I run 564whp. Stock transmission. I have broken 4 axles (2 stock, 2 DSS lvl 0). Currently on the DSS 2.9's (500whp) and they are holding up so far.

I have an aftermarket differential sort of. MFactory LSD and MFactory 3.9 gears in the stock case. I never broke my differential when I was at 400whp launching and driving hard, however, I replaced the LSD because I wanted the longer gears so I might as well replace the LSD at the same time. Both have held up fine.

I broke all my axles running the tires I am currently running, 275/60/15 Nitto NT555R drag radials.

Honestly I am still most concerned I am going to break the axles again. I feel like I can control the shock on the differential well enough to not break it and am still waiting for the transmission to go.

Heading out to the drags right now! Wish me luck! Low 10s!

I broke my drivers side axle on my fifth pass at 450hp. I was on mickey thompson drag radials and launching fairly hard. Its more of a when it's gonna break not if. The differentials are made to handle less than 200ft/lbs on a road course. Not for hard launches at the strip. Preload does help, but its still gonna break. Either stock up on spares, call fullblown or Inlinepro, or stay away from the dragstrip. I chose to sell the stickies and give up dragging. I went down that road with my cobra. Lots of fun, but expensive and constant breakage. I just got tired of having to fix it every other week. I stick to the mountian roads now. Lots more fun, and LOTS cheaper.

That is my plan eventually, but just too much money right now. $3000 + 1000-1500 for the actual differential.......

^ true, I would just pre-load it, it will last 20x longer and you will still be able to cut 1.7-1.60fts.............
