This is the best I've seen yet. Gonna have to copy your idea unless I can pay you to do it for me?

@grandmaster - that is cool, good job!.

Would i be able to buy a 2nd hand dash cover just that bit and modify that rather than butcher the existing bit?

Or did you take the whole dash off to fit it?

thanks

I'm huge when it comes to ICEC (In-Car Ergonomics and Comfort) since we all spend majority of our time inside the car so for me it's GOTTA be comfortable and ease of use on a daily basis.

With that said, let me first say EVERY mod has its advantage and disadvantage, not to pick on GrandmasterKhan, but his setup is very cool however you give up all your remote radio controls which I need for a DD. The entire panel is a circuit board so once you get into that panel, you have to hack up the entire radio control board (for a $200+ part this is a no-no for me).

Most high end gauges have "peak hold" functions now so when you go WOT you don't need to look at the gauge. But for me I like to see my most important gauges so I opted for the pillar mount. I agree it's a bit blingy but nothing against the law for having gauges. However my V1 display must be concealed but in line of sight. Those of you who put the V1 display too low are just asking for trouble. I hid mine in the upper pillar so it's easily visible when I scan my rearview mirror.

here's my setup (yes that pillar is custom upholstered and a PITA to do)

I'm curious why you say that? I've always mounted the remote display of the V1 on the steering column on all of my cars. When my v1 goes off, I'm able to check my speed and look at the display at the same time

My remote mount v1 sits on the dash where windshield meets dash right in front of me. Right in my line of sight

Some places radar detectors are illegal.

^Exactly - I guess as long as you (driver) like the position it's all that matters....

but in my position and angle, its hidden from any outsider by the pillar + headliner so no one but me can see the red indicators. As another guy said in some states it's illegal to use radar detectors and even in the states which are legal, the ideal setup would conceal the device. My friend who's a cop says when they see you have a V1, they label you as a professional speeder so you are more likely to get a ticket.
