Default Ditch gears or keep them

Guys i run a CTSC+AC (7psi) with bolts on, Greddy EMU and 4.57r gears.

Its roughly 370BHP, 230odd lb-ft torque @fly.

I was thinking, would it be wise to ditch the gears to use the spread of torque or just keep them since I'm not running lots of power?

Would in gear acceleration be better ditching them?

My rev limit is 9100rpm so it negates the gear somewhat.

Thanks

At your power level your about on the cusp there AJ. Yes the factory 4.10 or even the 4.30 gear ratio would be best, but not worth the money to switch it out, unless you need to dig into the rear end for another reason.

I'm running comptech sc / front mount with 4.57 gears and I love the acceleration. I feel I get into higher boost faster from off the line.

When I was at your power (362rwhp) my traps were peaking at 9000 in 4th with 4.44s.

At 420rwhp 9500rpm was not enough and I ended up putting the 4.10s back in.

At about 500rwhp the 3.90s were necessary.

I have always checked out trap speeds in 4th gear when deciding on gear ratios.

If it were me, I would run it a quarter mile and see if you can keep it in 4th thru the traps. If you have to go to fifth gear (I think you will and I hope you do ) the gears are too short for the power.

I'm at that point now where I need taller gears or bigger tires. Unfortunately the next ratio is 3.63s...200 mph land speed record type gears.

I have to settle for hitting fifth until I can get some taller tires.

370bhp is only 330-340whp? So probably about right with lower power and higher gear

For that power level I would just keep them. Will be faster off the line but probably a little slower on highway pulls since you will have to shift much sooner and not stay in boost longer per gear.

Personally I'd keep them if I was just doing street driving. Anything that makes the car feel faster makes me happy. But if I was racing, then Sideways explained the decision process well.

It will feel and be faster off the line but probably feel slower on the highway. I know when NA my 4.77's felt slower on the highway since you just shifted a lot and went nowhere it felt like. Off the line and around town was much better though!
