Hopefully the pictures do a better job than what I'm going to try and describe, but isn't the volute and the machined hardware oriented incorrectly with regards to one another? Perhaps during the powder coating of the volute, it was (re)assembled incorrectly? If I'm right, I'm going to be pissed! The install was going rather well too.

Hopefully I'm wrong and can continue with the installation.

Some pictures from SOS' site for reference:

Oh no! You gotta send it back! j/k

It's fine, you have to rotate the volute yourself so it lines up with the inlet of the aftercooler. Just loosen the 6 allen head bolts, rotate volute, and tighten once aligned.

Thanks soulicious and RAIN H8R!

I've rotated the volute and I think I got everything oriented correctly. Now for some more questions.

As part of correcting the orientation, I moved the drain fitting to "B" from "C". The instructions say to apply thread sealant to the drain fitting, but do I need to do so for the plug that was relocated to "C" and other plugs similar to the one installed in "C"? What about the plug at "A"? The feed fitting was originally there so I moved it to the top. I know no thread sealant should be applied to the feed fitting, but I'm unsure of the plug at "A" now. Finally, do I install thread sealant on the flared end of the adapter that goes to the feed fitting?

Thanks guys!

Please consult the installation guide. It has photos showing where to clock the volute, and which ports need to be used for the feed and drain fittings. If you have any questions, please call us.

thanks,

The flared end which attaches to the hose does not require thread tape. The tapered pipe thread side also does not require thread tape because it is a NPT dry seal thread.
