Default Drastic power loss in the summer.

Hey Guys,

Long story short, I am driving and everything is great. I decide to get on it and realize she doesn't feel as fast. (DYNOd @ 350HP at the wheels.) So I do a few pulls and my AFR is now 10 or lower where AFR gauge can't even read it. (WTF) No wonder it feels like a dog.

So what's the deal? I checked the following...

- Boost? Seems normal, checked all connections and there doesn't seem to be any leaks.I have diesel clamps too.
- Spark? Zero missfire and perfect idle, checked Coil Connectors anyways and they seem fine.(Didn't check spark plugs)
- Reset the ECU? So i reset it, and nothing.
- Sound? Sounds awesome and doesn't backfire more than it did before even when I am beating the hell out of it.

So what gives? How can emanage ultimate AFR just change so suddenly after being fine for almost a year in any and every weather condition?

Specs: NOVI1000, 3.2" 11psi Pulley, E-Manage Ultimate tuned by Giles and Alex, 600cc injectors, FullBlown340 pump.
This thing has been bulletproof for past 3+ years

Thanks guys!

Are you running it in closed loop feedback via a wideband ? I don't know alot about the Emanage but i assume it can do that . The engine requires less fuel in the warmer weather compared to the cooler weather . Running it in closed loop feedback will help with this issue . I run closed loop feedback on my Aem ems and my a/f ratio is very close regardless of temp . The car is slower in the heat but not a dog by any means .

Perhaps your wideband sensor went bad? If you have wideband feedback into the ECU a bad sensor could screw with the tune.

I've heard of exhaust leaks at the header causing issues like this too.

Do you have a test pipe / high flow cat they can fail and cause rich conditions due to restriction.

Thanks guys. No feedback and I have a test pipe. Maybe I should just re-tune it in crazy hot environment? Lol

My car acted something similar when my injectors got clogged. The car acted normal under little throttle, but completely fell on it's face like hitting the rev limiter just halfways through the revs or something if I gave a little more throttle. Idle etc was normal.

It could be a number of things with your combo. But off the top of my head, if it got real hot out recently, or perhaps your Aftercooler stopped working, or you were sitting in stop and go traffic, all of which will cause your IAT to rise a lot and in turn your afr will be severally impacted, especially with no 02 feedback turned on to help compensate for any of these changes. Do some data logging on your IAT if you haven’t. See if you notice any correlation or pattern with your richer afr. Check afr after doing a few WOT runs after warm up and then later when the car has been driven and heat soaked.

With the stock ecu still in place, if there was an injector clog, I would expect a missfire cel come up.

Hey guys. I wonder if my COMPTECH Water pump is no good. It pumps but doesn't seem like it really moves that much water when I look inside my AfterCooler.Zero kinks yet, temps are 60-80f above ambient.

I have oversize Honeywell, SOS like heat exchanger. Any suggestions? Will new AfterCooler Ford Cobra pump help?

Stock ECU pulls 2-4 degrees of timing once you are past 113f/45c and now I know why she feels so sloppy in this heat.

Just so I don't leave this thread hanging... quick update below.

It's all temp related it seems. ECU just playing it safe. COBRA pump installed and it seemed to keep temps more stable. Niiice
I really need to wrap/coat my header, it should help year round and possibly will make a noticeable difference in the summer.

Love this car. She is now stored away for the winter.
