Default Driveability of Comptech w/ aftercooler

I just purchased the kit and it should get here soon. I'm new here, but have been browsing and reading.

I'm hoping that I can drive the way I was doing w/o the sc. I tend to VTEC on on-ramps and other "safer" areas on the road. It's good fun.

And to maintain this level of fun, but also balancing the desire to get the most out of the $5K wallet dumpage, are there certain driving habits I should take up that's any different than driving a stock powered S2000?

Thanks in advance.

Will drive the same as stock until about 5000rpm. Then you will feel it pull harder than a stock s2000.

S/C is even more fun!. It does take a little getting use to the VTEC kicking in. ist gear is a bit scary. You will love 2nd and 3rd on the ramps. I have only had mine for a about 2 months. Glad I did it!

Other than massive power gain...

here are some drawback in driveability...

-s/c s2k suffers more on heat-soak bogging at lower rpm.
-more noise,viberation thru cabin
-loud turbine/gear noise at idle.
-NOISY fuel pump.

the wheels will break a lot easier in 1st and 2nd gear.

Does the car still suffer from heat soak even with an aftercooler? I'm not too crazy about the idea of more vibration through the cabin.

Also, I run 10.5" wheels in the rear so breaking traction in 1st and 2nd might be a wee bit tougher than the narrower stock wheels.

I am not sure about the vibration mentioned. With the stock pulley the sound of the S/C is very subtle. It is loud enough that you hear it, but i don't think the car is louder. People who know what it is definitely look over because they no the sound. When I dropped my car off to get the top fixed, the guy sounds like you got some "go fast goodis under the hood"I would imagine it gets louder with a smaller pulley. I have only had mine for 6 weeks and it has been very hot here, the heat soak is definitely not worse with the S/C W A?C than with NA. I am very pleased with my setup.

I get alot of thumbs up from Mustang guys cause they are familiar with the charger whine. The whine at idle is noticeablely louder than the stock pulley. With the Godzilla BOV, it draws alot of attention.

I never noticed any heat soak problems or vibration. If there is major vibration, it could be coming from the blower bracket. But Comptech fixed this issue on their newer kits with bushings.

From what I have notice. The car will feel less torquey from a stop when you drive normal because of the extra belt the crank pulley has to turn. Its when VTEC hits is when you will notice how harder the car pulls than a stock S. So it basically feels just like stock til you hit VTEC. Just drive normal and it will last a long time for you. A local here has 150k on the odometer with 75k of those blown.

Make sure you tighten the belt after the first hundred miles or so and solder the ESM and you should be good to go.

Watch that tach in 1st gear early on. It is VERY easy to bounce off the limiter because 6000-9000 goes by very quickly.

The burst of power arund 6-7K can get you into trouble in a sweeper especially if it is slightly wet. (Ask me how I know )
