Default Dyno Dynamics Dyno Runs

Car:

MY01
Aftercooled Comptech Supercharger
Berk 70 mm Testpipe
GReddy 70 mm Ti-C
Rick's 4.44 diff

Dyno'ed last weekend at a local tuner here in Lexington- Injected Performance.

They use a Dyno Dynamics dyno, which I am told has a 13% lower whp rating than a Dyno Jet dyno.

Anyway I ended up making 264 whp. Not too bad considering my buddies NA (J's header and T1R exhaust) AP2 made 207.

On my first pull my A/F was around 13.8, and I made about 242. I cranked the FPR down a few turns and made 256, but the A/F was still a little lean for my taste: 12.8. A few more turns with the FPR and I made 264 with the A/F around 11.9.

The power curve is pretty dang straight. However at about 5000-5300 rpms the A/F lean out to about 13.9.

Should I acredit this leaness to the flow of the exhaust?

How dangerous is this for the motor?

The sad thing is I have running this setup for about 5 months now, and it hasn't blown yet, lol.

Not near a scanner tonight, but I'll post up my dyno sheets asap.

One last question, out of the blue the other day, the car started to bog and rough idle, like it was dumping fuel like crazy. My inaccurate AutoMeter wideband was reading 10.8. Is this beacuse of the FPR adjustment?

When this happened, no CEL ever registered; my Comptech black box is soldered in.

I dunno much about S/C but 13.8 is a disaster isnt it? I think 11.5 is a great number, I am in the high 10's at redline and never see anything leaner than 12.0 WOT..........

I could be wrong but I dont think 13's is normal or good for Boost

I have always heard 12.1 is ideal for the Comptech kit. My tuner said the richer the better...

yeah, 13.8, I dunno I think you engine would have BLOWN if you were really running 13.8, especially in the spring, the winter would have yeilded leaner conditions, I dunno what to tell ya

OOPs. I was typing from memory, lol.

The A/F spikes to 13.4 at 5800 rpms and drops to about 13.0 and stays there until about 7600 rpms. It then decreases to 11.9

Damn it I need a scanner, lol.

I dont want to sound like a POS, but ... 26X with an AC Comptech???? ... wow, I thought those would put you in the low 300s at least.

I dynoed 204 RWHP stock on a Dyno Dynamics / 378 RWHP SC'd, same dyno.

I would say dipping into the 13s is lean.

Interesting.

I don't know enough about dynos to say whether or not my car's hp is in the ballpark. 378 whp huh?

Damn.

My kit is AP1 stock; 5# boost. Is your SC kit stock?

My tuner took me through the myths and tricks of dynos- temp corrections, etc. There was no correction percentage on my runs. It was 60 degrees that afternoon; no humidity.

Before you knock my tuner, he has built a 1000+ hp 350z and has tuned several other cars here in KY.

Bondo,

I am not going to knock your tuner because #1 I dont know him, and #2 I am not a tuner or someone in the position to talk about any tuner ...

Anyways, sorry about the confusion but my 378 was on a KW set-up.

I guess 264 with a 12% correction (I hear 11-13% on DD) would make it 296 RWHP. What PSI is that pulley giving?, it might be a low boost pulley.

I just thought Comptechs were usually in the low 300s but maybe I am wrong.

Again, dont take my comments personal ... they are just that comments.

Joaquin

PS, dyno:

No offense taken man.

KW is a nice kit. I bought my car wrecked and it had this SC set up on there already.

Comptech markets their AC kit as having 298 to the wheels- Dyno Jet, or so I thought that's the dyno they used??

If that's true, I'm about right.

I'm just worried about my A/F and still wondering why my car bogged and stalled?

Congrats on the great numbers!

BTW the 5 psi pulley is what Comptech sells on their AP1 kit. It can take up a 7 psi pulley, without EMS.

I've been looking for an AP2 pulley for a while, but can't find one!!

Your plot looks like your A/F are above 12...
