Default ECU options, unichip?

In a couple of weeks I'll be getting a comptech supercharger, I'm going to run standard boost for a while but at a later date I'll be sticking the 9psi pulley on it.

Now for ECU's, I notice nearly all of you run the AEM EMS, now thats where the problems start. I'm in the UK and tuners for the AEM are few and far between and some can charge the earth, one turbo'ed guy paid around $3500.00 for his tuning.

I've read in the mags, we can get a unichip that can be tuned for N/A S2000's, now I want to call them up this week and ask them if their ECU would be any good for using with forced induction applications.

Now for the question, what questions do I need to be asking them. I've been lurking in F/I for a few weeks and some of the technical things you go on about are way over my head, so answers in dumb newbie terms please.

This is the unichip website.

Thanks a lot guys.

The UniChip is a piggyback rather than a full ECU. Early versions wouldn't work with the S2000 ignition but I believe they support that now.

It's not a bad solution but UniChip are fairly strict about who can tune their system. That's probably a good thing but also means it can be expensive.

To be honest you would be better off with either the AEM or another ECU modified to work with the S2000 and look for a tuner to work with it. Fundamentally they are the same type of thing just with different interfaces. The AEM is just much cheaper and quicker to install than a Motec for example.

I was under the impression that the AEM was made in the UK by a company called GEM or similar.

Geez if it costs that much to tune the AEM overthere, why doesn't he get a motec M4 or M800? The motecs are a lot more refined than the 1012 AEM.

Can you guys get tuning for microtech, haltech or hks f-con proV over in Europe?

Why not get a wideband 02, like the Innovate standalone LM-1(it reads A/F from like 8:1 to 20:1)? Much better than the AEM UEGO which only reads from like 11:1 to 17:1. And use it with the AEM EMS and just tune it yourself on the street. This is what I am going to do with my turbo setup.

WE have the AEM option only. this is why Sean from troquefreaks fly so frecuent to Europe to tune cars there.

There is few options for NA japanese car that go FI path.

What I am saying is that is very hard to find a tuner for S2000.

to wire a emanage is not to hard you can buy a harness.
to wire a VAFC is also easy
but find someone with experience to tune the Greddy and VAFC is very hard

yes but I was referring to microtech, haltech and hks f-con proV.
They are way more refined than the greddy/apexi stuffs that can only fine tune fuel.

If there are people who know how to tune the microtech, haltech or hks f-con proV stuffs then it's a lot more cost effective and less headache to use those tuning hardware, rather than flying someone from the USA to tune the car everytime you want adjust the fuel/ignition map.
