Default Emanage blue or ultimate?

I am going to be vortech supercharged running stock boost for awhile but eventually i'm gonna up the boost to 9-10lbs. I want to stay carb legal and thus will be running either a greddy emanage blue or ultimate. Will the blue be sufficient or is the ultimate that much better? Also, which harness should i get? boomslang?

Thanks for the help everyone.

i dont know about the blue, but with ultimate the box has a sticker on the side which says something to the effect of "not legal for use on public roads in CA". i dont remeber the exact wording, but the point was definatly this product is not CARB legal. But in all seriousness, w/ the way my ultimate is set up, i dont see how they would know its there, so no biggy. Someone can correct me if im wrong on this, but my box came w/ the label saying its a no-no in CA.

I def. vote for you to get the ultimate, i have the vortech s/c with EMU and it replaced all the tunning elements of the vortech kits (timing, fuel, volt clamp) just fine and then some. I am also using the boomslang harness, w/ the air&water inputs, the best way to go and if you want knock input later on its easy to rewire.

Any change to the default kit will render it non-CARB legal. The only possible exception would be adding a higher boost pulley if you can do it by only cranking up the FPR.

that doesnt make any sense. i thought the whole point of going piggyback like emange was to keep carb legal. i was under the assumption that piggybacks were carb legal. someone help clear this up plz.

Technically, it isn't CARB Legal. But, I'm not aware of any place that goes through the interior of your car to find out if you're running a piggyback. The OBD2 port still works fine if you're running an E-M/E-MU, and will check out fine.

And to the OP, the only CARB legal piggybacks are the ones that come with CARB Legal FI Kits that have locked maps. Ex: Greddy Turbo Kit.

I wouldn't sweat the CARB problem unless for some odd reason you're seeing a state ref.

Like I said - it would not be CARB legal. I agree that you would probably not need to worry, but I do not live in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

There was an interesting discussion regarding the Hondata ECM and if it would be able to pass CA smog. Many chimed in that even though the ECM could report all the OBD info, and even report the correct model and serial info, it would be risky to use it. Primary reason was that some have seen the inspectors (whoever they are) crawl under the dash or remove kick panels.

Just because it passes a OBDII monitor check doesn't make it CARB legal. Like others have said in the PRK and other states any change to the kit no matter how small makes it illegal.

Even changing the air filter on the SC is technically illegal.

People have used both the Blue and the Ultimate successfully with this app. I'd go for an Ultimate because it has more features than the blue, but only if $$ was a factor not to go with a AEM EMS.
