I have the same problem. I've been debating a surge tank. For now, the easy solution is to never drop below 1/2 tank. Unfortunately, my factory sock was damaged and the replacement Denso I bought is a completely different shape even though it is a direct replacement... Right now, I'm using the sock that came with my pump.

A surge tank shouldnt be needed in this scenario. Going WOT at half a tank shouldnt be staving for fuel, this isnt typical. The issue lies in the fuel pump/pick up somewhere.

Agreed, I have a full blown 340 pump and used the fuel sock that full blown sells with it. Perfect plug and play and I have none of the issues OP is having. I think the issue lies in either the design of the pump or possibly incorrect installation ( which I'm not sure how would happen, it pretty much only goes in one way.)

Yeah, I'm running a full blown 340 also but with stock everything else. No issue until I get down to 1 bar on the fuel gage as I would expect.

Also for the inexpense of a fuel pump, I don't understand why people choose to stray to something rather obscure and risk complication. The full blown 340 pump is a quiet great quality/working pump thats used by many from N/A to 500+ whp set ups.

Junky, I bought 06S2k07Si's old kraftwerks kit. He included a brand new deatschwerks 255 pump with the kit. So since I had it I figured I'd install it.
I would've probably just bought a walbro pump if I didn't have this one.

I am going to pull the fuel pump out tomorrow and try to figure out if I can install it at least a half inch lower somehow. Maybe this will be enough to fix my issue. I'll report back with my result

May just need to be fiddled with, but if you cant figure it out and decide to get another pump, don’t get a walboro 255, they are loud and half of them are Chinese knock offs which wont deliver the fuel you need, if you so lucky to land one like I did. Just pick up a full blown 340 and use the stock basket and sock and be done with it.

So after pulling it back out and comparing the two socks the stock one is considerably larger.

Also can someone tell me whether this clip here should be inside the rubber or if it just goes on like this?
